Local food support

Charleston Food Distribution

Charleston Area, South Carolina

We participated in a local food distribution effort that helped provide food and practical household support to families in the Charleston area.

The experience gave us a closer look at the everyday needs local families face and reinforced the importance of working alongside established community organizations.

Our Role

Volunteers helped sort donated food, organize supplies, and prepare packages so that each vehicle could move through the distribution process efficiently.

We did not organize the event. We participated as volunteers alongside local organizers, community members, and established organizations already doing the work.

What We Learned

Local food distribution requires coordination, preparation, and respect for the families being served. Showing up consistently and helping in practical ways matters more than making promises.

Working alongside established community organizations gives us a clearer picture of what neighborhoods actually need, and it shapes how we approach the community-support side of Thomas & Runtulalo Co.
